Customer Service

Friday, 27. November 2009 14:59

I love people who take their time to talk to you, explain products or ingredients and get you what you need.  It seems I increasingly feel like a number at larger stores–this is another reason to shop local!

I went by W3LL PEOPLE today and talked to Mimi and Shirley.  Mimi sat me down and did my make up so I will know what colors I need when I’m out of the stuff I’m currently using.  W3LL has a database you can add your favorites to and it even tracks your samples.  This gives you a great picture of what you need or like so you can budget for future purchases.

I can’t tell you enough, swing by this store and soak up all they have to offer.  The products are almost as amazing as the customer service!  I truly feel taken care of here.

Flax Seed Oil

Saturday, 21. November 2009 17:50

I started taking flax seed oil supplements because I don’t eat enough salmon.  I’ve tried so hard to like it, but can’t get past the fishiness unless it’s smoked and paired with cream cheese.  Flax seeds have omega 3 fatty acid, just like the salmon without the aftertaste.  New studies are showing flax seed oil is beneficial for your skin.  It helps the skin maintain moisture, therefore looking smoother and plumper.

Don’t Buy This

Saturday, 21. November 2009 17:42

I tested this for a friend: Wet N Wild Beauty Benefits, Beyond Everything mascara.  It contains parabens and other yucky chemicals you don’t really want on your skin, but it’s cruelty-free.  The cruelty-free and inexpensive part is what she was most interested in.  While it is budget friendly, it doesn’t work.  This could possibly be the worst mascara I have ever used.  It’s got a great, inky, dark color that immediately starts flaking onto your cheeks.  Within hours you have smudges under your eyes.  This is a product that fits the description you get what you pay for.

Where I got it: HEB.  What it cost: around $7.

New Info!

Wednesday, 11. November 2009 19:11

Hi there!  I have received a very intelligent request from a friend of mine.  She would like to know pricing.  I decided it was probably helpful to have where I bought the products as well.  If you’re in the Austin area, you’ll know where to go.

I will be updating as many of my previous posts as I can over the next few days–and trying to remember to add that info to new ones.

Ylang Ylang & Cinnamon, Yum!

Monday, 9. November 2009 20:56

I have fallen in love with The Bubble Roome’s Butter Cream in ylang ylang and cinnamon.  Seriously!  This smells SO GOOD.  I have been using it as a perfume dabbing just a little on my collarbone and inside my elbows.  Because it’s all natural, the scent lasts all freaking day!

Let’s talk about moisture.  This body cream is rich and lovely (like I aspire to be!).  If you use this on your feet in the morning after you take a shower, the next morning your feet will still be softer than normal.  I know!  Go buy some!

Where I got it: W3LL PEOPLE.  What it cost: $23.

How Do You Use This?!

Monday, 9. November 2009 20:20

I figured it out–finally!  Suki Transformative Cleansing Clay, it says you can use it as a mask or a face cleanser.  As a mask, it’s way too thin and does nothing.  Literally.  As a cleanser, it takes nothing off your face.  You literally have to wash first then, try it again.  But, as a spot treatment, it works like a champ!  I have had little pimples disappear over night and who doesn’t like that?  Although, it’s a bit expensive for a spot treatment.  I’m just happy what I spent on it didn’t go to waste.

Where I got it: Whole Foods, 6th & Lamar.  What it cost: $43.95.

The Importance of Routine

Wednesday, 4. November 2009 15:25

Why is that when we get stressed out, the first thing we let go of is caring for ourselves?  Whether it’s eating healthy, exercising or just sticking to a skin care regimen.  I usually mess up the skin care, and it shows!  Breakouts, yuckiness.

Well, I’m going to try and be better.  Now, I have a blotchy canvas on which to reapply my favorites and maybe some new stuff.  I’m going back to the yogurt.  There are some doctors trying to prove the connection between eating probiotics and having better skin.  I’m still eating it, but have fallen off the yogurt masks I was doing.

There are some others looking at goat’s milk.  Their theory is goat’s milk is less allergenic, the lactic acid smooths skin and the milk cells teach our cells to turn over.  Maybe, we can teach an old cell new tricks?  I’ll keep you posted.
